Nikkei Average Rises on News of Potential U.S. Rate Cut

Japan’s Nikkei average increased by 0.1 percent on Friday subsequent to President Bush’s intentions to help prod the fledgeling U.S. economy. This, along with a potential interest rate cut in the U.S., helped spur purchase of the dollar against the Japanese currency.
